Varieties we offer:
Gooseasaw - Seed sourced from Ken Asmus at Oikos Tree Crops in Kalamazoo, MI. Second generation seed from a chance Prunus munsoniana x angustifolia (Wild Goose Plum x Chickasaw) hybrid cross. Ken notes the following unique characteristics: little to no suckering (rare for a wild plum); a central leader with symmetrical branching growth habit; clean/disease free foliage without spraying; prolific production of bright red, tart plums that can be eaten fresh if fully ripened on the tree. A great choice for rootstocks, experimental fruit production and ornamental plantings. For more information, visit Ken’s website.
Sheffield’s American - Seed sourced from Sheffield’s Seed Co. Common American plum (Prunus americana) seedlings. Great for rootstocks, hedgerows, riparian and wildlife plantings. Trees produce fragrant blossoms in abundance early in the spring while many plants are still dormant. Has a tendency to sucker and will form thickets if unmanaged. Expect small fruit with variable quality.
